Rally of Morocco 2011 - LEG 1 - 297km - (17/10/11)
Live from camp Leg 1 : THE BALCONY OF KASBAHS

The Rally of Morocco 2011 started on 17th October, grouping no less than 109 participants (car, truck, motorcycle / quad, all combined). Latest rally before the Dakar, the level is very high because the competitors are here to prepare the famous Dakar 2012.

Sébastien Catta, the Donerre member in charge of testing, moves overthere to assist the teams and vehicles Donerre.

17/10/11 : The first leg, called ''The Balcony of Kasbahs'', covers 297km, between Ouarzazate and Zagora. It takes on average between 4h30 and 5h30 (for car and truck). Each competitor has a start time different from the others.

Donerre has different vehicles on this Rally :
- 3 prototypes (2 Toyota and 1 Amarok) [n°315 - n°316 - n°334]
- 3 production cars, still Toyota [n°329 - n°338 - n°342]
- 1 can am SSV [n°121]
- 2 Iveco trucks [n°401 - n°402]

RESULTS OF THE LEG 1 :

- The truck (T4) No. 401, piloted by Gerard De Rooy (Dutch), guided by his co-drivers Tom Colsoul (Belgian) and Darek Rodewald (Polish), ranked first in its class, despite a flat (rare incident) at KM217!
This is the first race of De Rooy since his successive accidents on the Silkway 2009 and the Dakar 2011. Nice start Gerard!

- The truck (T4) No. 402, piloted by Miki Biasion (Italian), guided by his co-pilots Albiero Giorgio (Italian) and Livio Diamante (Italian) is ranked 2nd.
He's the first truck arrived, but he is charged with a penalty of 3 minutes, due to excessive speed, which then brings him back to second place.

The starting position of the two trucks 401 and 402 is not easy, back of the pack, whereas they roll faster than the average ...

- The SSV No. 121, drived by Francisco Lopez (Chile), guided by his co-pilot Claudio Troncoso (Chile), ranked first of the SSV.
-------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------
- The Toyota (T2) No. 329, piloted by Xavier Foj (Spanish), guided by his co-pilot Cervi Cervantes (Spanish), ranked 1st among the production cars.

- The Toyota (T2) No. 342, piloted by Vadim Saveliev (Russian), guided by his co-driver Vladimir Demyanenko (Russian), ranked 5th of the production cars.

- The Toyota (T2) No. 338, piloted by Ivan BanaClocha (Spanish), guided by his co-driver Rafael Tornabell (Spanish), ranked 6th of the production cars.
